The first step concerns a titanium screw that is placed into the bone, which is covered with a special porous material that gives stability of adhesion. Important fact concerns titanium that does not interact with the magnetic field and patients with titanium implants do not have to be afraid of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Additionally, titanium does not cause allergies because it is bio-inert. Integration of the implant to the bone takes 4-6 months, patients get a missing tooth replacement that positively affects the process of healing. Mostly, temporary restorations are performed before implantation, what gives possibility of embedding them after the treatment. In the second stage, the implant has time to grow into the bone, that is why a healing ring is placed on the implant. The ring rebuilds the gums around the implant. Gingival healing process takes about twenty eight days. The final phase of treatment concerns a special connector applied with a chosen prosthetic construction: bridgework, crown or a fixing element of a denture with a snap. Adequate anesthesia (local, computer or sedation, carried out under the supervision of an anesthesiologist) makes implant treatment painless.
The effectiveness of implant surgery is about 95-97%. One has to remember that there are cases of implant rejection by the body or abnormal coalescence of bone. The risk of abnormalities can depend on the time period when the surgery was performed, or placement of the implant. The specialists do not advise to perform implantation after tooth extraction. Rejection of the implant does not mean the end of treatment. When the bone heals itself, another implantation can be conducted in the same spot. There are many contraindications that one should consider and discuss with a medical specialist before starting procedure. Patients who consider implants, but have inadequate bone conditions, cannot undergo guided bone reconstruction. The necessary minimum is 10mm of bone to start the treatment with implants. The newest osteogenic materials are used to restore lost bone structures and advanced surgical techniques. Guided bone regeneration involves location of osteogenic material in a reconstructed area or using patient's bone taken from another place (transplantation). Healing time is an individual case of the patient, it is based on predispositions and the healing may last even six months. Healing time is the period when regenerative and remodeling processes take place, and the material converts into full-fledged bone. When this phase is over, there are no contraindications to reconstruct the missing teeth and start implant process. Maxillary sinus lift is a specific case of bone reconstruction. This treatment applies to people who do not have sufficient amount of bone in lateral parts of the upper jaw. Our facility has apparatus for atraumatic performance of the treatment. In maxillary sinus lift we have classical and closed method (which adapt ultrasonic knife and so-called balloon). In the second case, the time of healing is shortened by no need for deep intervention with the drill.
